The Epic Update
I have 57 minutes until Grey's Anatomy starts, so I better type fast.
I'm assuming that maybe my loyal readers (all three of you, for which I am eternally grateful), periodically check my blog and will see this update.
Shall I start at the beginning or the end?
I'll start at the end, which is now.
March
I'm sitting here typing while wearing a Holtor Monitor. This is like a portable EKG. It's uncomfortable and the main reason I'm working from home tomorrow. (Plus, I get to sleep in a WHOLE HOUR EXTRA!) It's hard to find something to wear that goes over all the electrodes, although the box can clip to my pants. But every 10 seconds I'm itching my chest, and I don't want to subject my colleagues to that.
I'm wearing this thing because I spent 4 hours in the ER here a couple of weeks ago. My heart rate slowed to 41 beats per minute. I felt all jittery and agitated, hungry, light-heated and dizzy. I know some people pay big $$ to feel that way, but I got it for FREE!
So I had an IV (Lamaze breathing included) and was hooked up to all these monitors, and went through a whole battery of tests. The results? Nothing was wrong - I just ended up having to stop taking my heart medication. It dropped my heart rate. Goody.
And being I didn't go to Mayo, my ever-prompt local system took over two weeks to get me the Holtor that my Mayo docs ordered. There's nothing like monitoring my heart after the fact.

You know your flight won't be a good one when the person next to you turns to you while your plane is taxi-ing to the runway and says, "Do you think they let people stay in the bathrooms while the plane is taking off? I'm gonna be sick."
Hmmm... What could I do but tell her I didn't think so and give her my barf bag? Unfortunately for me, this girl was EXTREMELY hungover. I could smell it with every exhalation and burp she made. I almost wanted to puke. Let's just say that although she didn't ralph while sitting next to me, she did spend an unusual amount of time in the bathroom. Thank God.
I was in Detroit for work. I must say that of all the hotel chains I have stayed with, my favorite is the Hampton Inn. A fluffy king-sized bed, clean room, and free Oreos. What more can a girl ask for? (And no, they didn't pay me to say that. Although they should...)
37 minutes until Grey's Anatomy...
January
Will had a band concert. Did I tell y'all that he's a prodigy on the trombone? Anyway, the concert was wonderful! I was so impressed. For a 5th grade band concert, they sure sounded great! Even better than I expected.
I had my 6-month check-up on the 5th. Everything looked perfect! My valve isn't leaking at all, and the right side of my heart has shrunk. And I am now up to 70% on my exercise test. Yay! I don't need to go back for TWO YEARS! My heart is even healthy enough to have another child, if RobbieMax and I so desire. Which we don't.
A downside: I can't ride rollercoasters anymore. My cardiologist said that rollercoasters with high "G" forces can cause rhythm problems. I admit, I thought about ignoring my expert cardiologist's advicce and saying, "To heck with it!"
But after much consideration, I decided that I would feel stupid and very awful if I went on a rollercoaster and screwed up my new and improved heart after all I went through to get it. Am I bad to wish I could trade in my ability to have children for the ability to ride rollercoasters?
December
I joined a gym. A Snap Fitness opened in my area, and I joined right away. I love the owners - Melanie and Scott. They always ask how I'm doing and have helpful advice for using the weights and stuff. I've been trying to go 4-5 times a week. I've lost 8 pounds since January!
Christmas was fun. RobbieMax, Will, and I stuck to our tradition. I made the only complete meal I cook all year (I'm SO lucky that RobbieMax loves to cook!) - roast beef, green bean casserole, veggies (cooked with the roast), bread (from the bread machine), and I think that's it. It was fun and delicious, especially after smelling it cook all day!
November
This is where I left off - for Thanksgiving, we traveled to the great metropolis of...
FARGO, NORTH DAKOTA!
It was actually a lot of fun. We met RobbieMax's family there and spent the weekend with each other. Will had a blast being the one his cousins fought over to play with. The grown-ups drank beer, red wine, and stuffed ourselves silly. Good conversation seemed to follow us whever we went - even to Chuck E Cheese's.
And that's the "epic" update. Not much, but enough to fill in a bit of the holes.
I do have a new countdown though. Will and I are heading to LA over his spring break. We'll be staying with my awesome sister, Lynn, and her son and hubby! I have a ton of editing to get done before then, but I'll be so happy when it's done!
Only 1 week and 5 days until we leave!
Okay. Grey's Anatomy starts in 5 minutes. I'll post again soon. I promise!
